A Bar in ZanziBar

To spice up this blog, to make it sublime
We write this short Zanzibar entry in rhyme

Forgive us for using Shakespeare's tongue                                                        in this creation
Its a strange and unpredictable thing, inspiration.

We start with a beautiful white sandy beach
Where we hide from the tropical scorching sun's reach

(Well actually Tania-who's a bit of a dork-
is lying in the sun like a small roasted pork*!)                                  *a very cute pork

The water, the boats...the whole scenery is                        breathtaking
& the wind, &the birds, &the sound of waves breaking...

An Ode to the sea-its blue and its green
Of wonderful shades that are not often seen!

During high tide the boats, before stranded and dead
Come to life! & on the waves frolic instead

And in low tide (so low!)...

Many colorful women pick seaweed on their knees
Eager to make use of this gift from the seas

Slowly on their heads they take their harvest to shore
It will be used for cosmetics...& for many things more!

Now coming in inland, a fury of spices!
This wondrous island all the senSes entices.

Though travelling alone has a charming allure
A few days ago we decided to join a "Spice Tour"

          We learned many things.
Thanks so much to our guide!
We quite enjoyed the food,
& the scents, & the ride.

We also loved Stone Town- its narrow streets, its fort
Grilled fish at Forodhani, its busy lively port

             ...

Zanzibar has captivated writers throughout the ages
Our own humble contribution we make with these pages.
                                                          :)

  1. I can only imagine the hardships you faced,
all day in the sun while at the sea you gazed,
you were practically FORCED to buy spices galore,
im very surprised you didnt buy more!

Just kidding chochous,i do love laughing at you,
but i have to admit that one thing is true,
rhyme or no rhyme, this blog is sublime
And the authors are (without doubt) absolutely divine :)
